Susan Alvey, D.B.A.
Susan Alvey is an expert in organizational and leadership development. She designs and delivers groundbreaking leadership development solutions for corporate clients and works closely with executives to ensure their people strategy supports their business strategy and aligns structures, roles, and incentives to optimize organizational functioning. She earned a BA from Smith College, an MBA from Northeastern University, and her Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Her doctoral research focused on trust relationships within executive coaching.
As the head of organizational learning and development for Harvard Business School Publishing from 2001 until 2006, Susan drove the learning and development efforts for this multi-faceted publishing company. She served as a subject matter expert for HBSP’s eLearning programs on leadership and management development and is on the Professional Development Review Board for HBSP’s eLearning products. She also worked with HBSP corporate clients to develop and deliver on-site management development programs.
She has served as a key facilitator of change and strategic thinking throughout the organizations within which she has worked. Partnering with senior executives, she has been central to the planning process for the company’s programs. Susan has coached managers and executives, designed professional development programs, implemented 360-degree feedback, linked development to performance management processes, and introduced mentoring programs.
Susan is certified in the Harvard Business School Case Method Teaching; Harvard University Program on Negotiation, Organizational Development; ODR Change Resilience; Myers Briggs Type Indicator®, and Benchmarks®. Susan is an avid arts enthusiast and currently sits on the board of the Cambridge Arts Council.
